This rapidly growing organization seeks to empower local people with local resources to create holistic, sustainable community solutions in access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene while winning a hearing for the Gospel.
(Updated October 2018)
Over the last 25 years, Living Water International’s outstanding visibility, commitment, expertise, and stability have resulted in over 18,000 completed water projects serving over five million people. Their work sets a standard by which other organization’s work in this field can be judged.
Living Water views its work in providing clean, safe water as important in its own right, but also as a chance to win a hearing for the Gospel in areas where such efforts would be otherwise unwelcome. To this end, this organization supports and builds on the efforts of the local church wherever it can, often partnering with the indigenous church in bringing the Water of Life alongside clean drinking water. In addition to focusing on working with indigenous organizations to implement water, sanitation, and hygiene projects, Living Water shares its expertise freely with a host of partner NGO’s to help extend their reach and effectiveness in serving the poor. These collaborations also serve to create more opportunities for the Gospel; a partial list of these partner organizations can be seen at https://www.water.cc/partnerships.
Living Water Int’l also offers an extensive menu of options for involvement, ranging from special events and programs to raise awareness and support for water issues, to field experiences, training for church-based water projects, and project sponsorship…. see https://www.water.cc/dosomething for some of the options.
Living Water Int’l estimates that it costs less than $1 to provide clean, safe water to one person for one year; access to clean, safe water is fundamental to helping the least and last break free of grinding poverty because it directly affects health, education, and economic opportunity. Supporting efforts to bring clean, safe water to desperately poor communities has a powerful, highly leveraged effect on their hopes and work for a better tomorrow.
